Dress Up Your Attitude
Did you know that an atmosphere doesn’t really exist?
You are the one that brings the atmosphere with you wherever you go.
When you have the correct mindset you create a happy atmosphere.
When you are not synchronized with your being, you can spoil the “atmosphere” for yourself instantly.
Has it ever happened to you that you have imagined a dream holiday, and the atmosphere was magical, you could almost taste it until you were on your way, you could feel the fun and special atmosphere… but for some reason when you physically arrived, the atmosphere was not the same, at home or in the office it was much more exotic, imagining it was much more fun…
Or you visit a certain place and you really enjoy the atmosphere, the second time you go there the atmosphere suddenly seems different, it’s not as fun as it was the first time.
What happened?
Your inner atmosphere has simply changed.
Richard Bandler tells us that when he arrives at a certain place he always “dresses his approach” he creates in his mind an amazing atmosphere he then enjoys the place to which he has arrived, because he is not dependent on the atmosphere that awaits him there, he arrives everywhere with his own atmosphere.
He instills in his mind the set that he likes,
For example:
He places a 40 piece orchestra that plays soul music with backing singers and wind instruments.
He paces to the sounds of the music which he loves.
He says to himself words that make him feel good, like: “wow, you look great today…”
He listens to background voices of enthusiasm/admiration:
“How nice, how fantastic…” and gets into the rhythm…
In short he builds an atmosphere in his mind and so when he enters a place it is “painted” in the colors and sounds that he loves.
He has an internal ipod and glasses that paint the world in beautiful colors.
He humms and recites things to himself.
This is called “dressing up your attitude”.
I remember when I was on a long haul flight and it started to get boring, everyone around me fell asleep and I started to feel uncomfortable.
I decided to dress up the attitude.
I created in my imagination a playlist with all the songs which I love the most and started to play them to myself one by one.
I listened to the subtlety of the instruments and the various artists and I really got into it.
It was such fun; there are no words to describe how much I enjoyed it. I started to sing along with the songs, even the solo bits of the instruments…
It was the most fun I have ever had on a flight.
Our brain can serve as an all round entertainment console. All that is needed is a bit of creativity and to get into it…
Start to dress your attitude and approach.
It’s true that a beautiful, friendly place full of nice people can always help improve an atmosphere but the real key to creating an atmosphere lies with us.
Even if we will be in the most beautiful place, but our internal atmosphere will not be “beautiful”, the atmosphere that we will “as if” soak from that place will be according to our feelings.
We have an atmosphere regulator, we have control over the atmosphere at all the places, all the time.
Bandlar added and said that if he will enter a room where there are a thousand depressed people, they will not be able to influence him. He will feel his happiest and most enthusiastic there by dressing his personal attitude onto the room.
Try it, don’t accept the atmosphere of a place as a given, the atmosphere begins and ends in your mind.
Dress your attitude every day, practice it in places where you are used to getting an atmosphere that isn’t great and start dressing your atmosphere onto the place.
All of a sudden you will discover that you are really enjoying being there…
